Master Pathway Scholarship

Supporting and Empowering Changemakers in the Yoga Community

The yoga teaching space and training opportunities in the West have been inequitably represented in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic class, age groups, body types, and fitness condition. It has consequently been suffering the resulting stereotypes that high-caliber teachers have such stereotypical attributes. At TPM, we acknowledge that we have not been an exception. And we want to change that.
We do, however, strongly believe in including and lifting voices and perspectives of members of marginalized communities. We own the responsibility to create a truly diverse and equitable teaching community at TPM, and to provide opportunities toward this change.

Real change requires real work.

Our first steps to reducing barriers to high quality education will be

  • Creating scholarship opportunities for our Master with Threes certification

  • Selecting mentors for the Master Pathway who are passionate about and equipped to bolster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in yoga teaching

  • Designing additional DEI content in the current curriculum for all trainees

Threes is committed to training and amplifying the voices of minority teachers through the Master Pathway Scholarship. As physical therapists and yoga teachers committed to a whole-person approach in health, healing and wellness, we always consider social determinants of health, not only for our teachers but also for the communities that we and TPM-trained teachers serve. We aim to make physiyoga available to all individuals and communities who need quality practice grounded in the science of physical therapy and yoga for mind-body wellness.
