Threes Training Scholarship

Supporting and Empowering Changemakers in the Yoga Community

The yoga teaching space and training opportunities in the West have been inequitably represented in terms of race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic class, age groups, body types, and fitness condition. It has consequently been suffering the resulting stereotypes that high-caliber teachers have such attributes. At Threes, we acknowledge that we have not been an exception and we want to change that.
We strongly believe in including and lifting voices and perspectives of members of marginalized communities. We own the responsibility to create a truly diverse and equitable teaching community at Threes, and to provide opportunities toward this change.

Real change requires real work.

Our first steps to reducing barriers to high quality education will be:

  • Creating scholarship opportunities for the Threes Training certification

  • Selecting mentors for the Threes Training who are passionate about and equipped to bolster diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in yoga teaching

  • Designing additional DEI content in all curriculum offerings

Threes is committed to training and amplifying the voices of minority teachers through the Threes Training Scholarship. As physical therapists and yoga teachers committed to a whole-person approach in health, healing and wellness, we always consider social determinants of health, not only for our teachers but also for the communities that we and Threes-trained instructors serve. We aim to make physiyoga available to all individuals and communities who need quality practice grounded in the science of physical therapy and yoga for mind-body wellness.

What Does the Threes Training Full Scholarship Include?

  • Tuition

Tuition for the Threes YTT Training course will be covered in full, inlcuding all course content, live virtual event participation, and 1:1 office hours

  • Certification

Upon successful completion of the Threes Training by the cohort deadline, you will receive your Threes certification

  • Community

Once certified, you will have continued access to Threes resources and ongoing support from the Threes graduate community

We recognize that there are brilliant and committed yoga teachers who are of racial, ethnic, sexual and gender minorities and other groups that are under-represented in yoga teaching. We also know that there are teachers already working to bring greater access to marginalized communities. In addition to creating a diverse cohort of Threes instructors, our intention with these scholarships is to further empower change-makers who wish to expand their toolbox and hone their skills to better serve their students and communities.

Who Should Apply?

The Threes Training Scholarship is open to certified 200-hr yoga teachers who identify as:

  • Racial and ethnic minorities (Black, Latinx, Asian, Indigenous, and other people of color)
